Fellowship Program
12-Month Artist Fellowships
Fellowship applications are now closed.
The Fellowships provide emerging artists, age 21- 40, opportunities to participate in a vibrant, nonprofit gallery with an experienced gallery staff and practicing artist members.
Fellowship support is reciprocal, and, in that regard, we look forward to what Fellows bring to the gallery by way of fresh artistic expression. It is our hope that Fellowship opportunities will work as a catalyst for accelerated artistic growth for Fellows and Artist Members alike.
GRO Fellows have an opportunity to show their work in up to 6 exhibitions including one solo show and one 2-person show and will receive a $1000 stipend to offset the associated costs. Fellows are high-lighted in GRO marketing and promotions.
Artists living in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, convenient to Point Reyes Station, and working in any fine art medium. Fellowships are open to Emerging Artists ages 21-40. BIPOC artists are encouraged to apply.
Testimonials
“My fellowship experience at GRO offered me a supportive container to pursue a large-scale photography and oral history project. Upon completion, I received resources and valuable experience during installation and a meaningful platform to exhibit my work and be in dialog with the community. Additionally, there were great opportunities to work in the gallery setting and participate in GRO’s programs, like Artist in the Schools. I am grateful for my time spent with GRO and would recommend it to emerging artists!”
Shannon O’Neill Creighton, 2020-21
“The Fellowship at Gallery Route One provided an opportunity to participate in a members run gallery setting. I was able to have a solo exhibition and place work with a handful of collectors. I made connections with other local artists and organizations and was even interviewed for a local radio show. Overall, it was a worthwhile experience that I would recommend for any emerging artist.”
