This piece was inspired by the idea from psychology that we all have parts or subpersonalities – those voices that make up the committees in our heads. Maybe your professional persona comes to the fore at work where you need to be a responsible leader. But, back home for the holidays, you revert to your role as the baby of the family. Or maybe you often get caught up in an internal battle of wills over whether to eat that second piece of cake. Is one of these the “real” you? Which one?
