den Ouden, Leo – Bolinas Seawall
Story of the Box
On a day trip from Lagunitas to Bolinas Beach I noticed how the rocks in the sand were revealed by the water. Looking up I saw a patch of bright colors on the old gray-painted seawall. The weather is causing paint to peel away, exposing a colorful history underneath; part of a mystery mural?
I made a stand to reflect in the box that the beach there is fairly flat while sloping slightly towards the sea. The seawall and sky are painted in watercolor. The beach is sand and stone.
This is a Watercolor painting of paint pealing from the seawall and revealing a past mural. It will cover three sides inside the box. Framed in Cherry wood on the Fruitwood stained pine box.
