Annie Duncan is a painter and printmaker currently living in Inverness, CA, where the light and colors of the landscape have always inspired my work. I grew up in San Francisco, and recently moved home to the west coast after living east for five years.
In my work, I navigate the liminal space between my everyday life and my memories. I am interested in moments—created by objects, spaces, people—which I attempt to distill and articulate on canvas.
In reconstructing these spaces, I consider the emotions embedded within a scene. I look at the objects and people we take into our lives and the stories our spaces tell. Mywork explores subjects like intimacy, longing, nostalgia, femininity, queerness, and personhood.
