Gallery Route One, Artist’s Exchange with Zea Morvitz & Patti Trimble: A Natural Collaboration
Hosted by Pamela Blotner
I’d like to introduce two artists who are recognized for their individual paintings, drawings and books, but who also share a rich journey of discovery in their ongoing artistis collaboration.
Zea Morvitz has been living and making art in Inverness since the late 70’s, after she received an MA in painting from UC Berkeley where she studied with Elmer Bischoff. She is a founding member of GRO and is currently the Director of the Project Space Program for visiting artists.
Initially a painter, Morvitz switched from large- scale paintings to drawing and mixed media work on paper including handmade artist books and altered books. She has worked on many collaborative projects with artist friends. A mixed -media collaboration with Patti Trimble began in 2020 but was suspended by the onset of the Corona Virus Pandemic.
Patti Trimble lives in Petaluma and Italy. She creates lyrical paintings, poems, and spoken-word performances, many focused on the natural wild world. As a young painter she worked for a decade as studio assistant for several New York School painters, a kind of immersion school for the absurd. Covid ended her day-job as freelance writer—writing essays on physical and environmental science, literature, and the arts. So she is now, gratefully, 100% back to the absurd-metaphysical world of the painting studio, writing poems in the burn-recovery forest, as she slowly writes a book about her artworld mentors.
