Bernie Schimbke explores the visual dynamics of water and pigment when they flow together as a medium. With the addition of intense chromium colors on textured papers, new surfaces encompass the pigment as they define the emerging images. Each painting is an attempt to harness the tsunami of water driving this process, one which at times seems to understand when to step back, and also when to more assertively define a particular form.
