When someone invites me to their party, I am inspired to pull out my camera — to maybe give the pictures to them if they turn out, but also to have a memory afterwards. I love to take pictures of events and to try to capture the moment. I have had many good teachers, and I try to apply all that I have learned about light, camera settings, and noticing the background. Beforehand, I recall all the reminders too: to make sure my battery is charged and the camera is ready. I am always working to make the best pictures I can.
My older children are now both at Tomales High, and I notice that I am feeling attracted to photographing that town, to the road leading there, the water, certain p;aces. I also plan to keep photographing the life there — the plays, practices, special events. In Spanish, they call chicken pox, ”comma la viruela loca,” to describe the way the spots show up here and there and all over the place. I go through my days like that, looking for the next moment in the world that catches my eye.

Cuando alguien me invita a su fiesta, me inspiro para sacar mi cámara – para dar lo mejor en las fotos para ellos si resultan, sino también para tener un recuerdo después. Me encanta tomar fotos de eventos y tratar de capturar el momento. He tenido muchos buenos maestros, y trato de aplicar todo lo que he aprendido acerca de la luz, los ajustes de la cámara, y darse cuenta de los antecedentes. Antes, recuerdo todos los recordatorios también: asegurarme de que mi batería este cargada y la cámara este lista. Yo siempre estoy trabajando para hacer las mejores fotos que puedo. Mis hijos mayores ahora asisten en Tomales High, y me doy cuenta de que me siento atraída por fotografiar ese pueblo, en la carretera que conduce allí, el agua, algunas escenas. También estoy pensando en seguir fotografiando la vida allí – las obras de teatro, prácticas, eventos especiales. En español, se llama varicela, ”coma la viruela loca”, para describir la forma en que las manchas aparecen aquí y allá y en todas partes. Voy por mis días buscando la próximo momento en el mundo que me llama la atención.
