An 18-month Fellowship for artists aged 21 to 35
Fellowship Period: Jan. 1, 2015 through June 1, 2016
Who may apply: Artists in the Greater San Francisco BayArea, convenient to Point Reyes Station, aged 21-35, working in any fine art medium except crafts.
When to apply: Application deadline has been extended to Nov. 1, 2014. Notification for round one will be Nov. 28. Finalists will be invited to a personal interview and review of artwork.

ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP: This is an opportunity for the chosen artist to become involved in the life of a working gallery and to exhibit new work in two solo exhibitions and group exhibitions at Gallery Route One in Point Reyes Station, Marin County, California.
The GRO Fellowship for Young Artists offers each Fellow a solo exhibition in our (small) Annex Gallery within the first nine months of receiving the fellowship, and a solo exhibition in the (large) Center Gallery at the end of the eighteen-month Fellowship period. Fellows will be offered space in artist member group shows, GRO’s annual Box Show, the small works gallery, and any external exhibitions offered to gallery artists. Fellows will be represented on our website. Fellows receive a $500 stipend to defray costs associated with the Fellowship.
There is no fee for the Fellowship, but Fellows are required to serve as gallery attendants, once per month or less, to attend 4 member meetings, to participate in gallery functions such as openings and salons, and must cover their portion of the costs for printing and mailing the gallery announcement for their solo exhibition in the Center Gallery, Fellows are expected to host the reception for their solo exhibition.
GRO is a nonprofit art organization maintaining an alternative art gallery and community service programs. The gallery and its programs are operated by artist members, a Board of Directors and a small, part-time staff. In addition to exhibiting work by member artists, the gallery exhibits work year round by artists from the Bay Area and beyond on themes focused on the environment, immigration and social justice issues. GRO is the home of the annual Box Show, holds an annual Juried Show for Northern California artists and serves the West Marin Community through its Latinx Photography Project and its Artists in the Schools Program.
