I began photographing in 1972 after having dreamt I was a photographer.  I was 32 at the time, living in NYC, married with two small boys.  I took pictures of everything, eventually finding that people interested me the most.  Taking portraits is challenging for me, demanding quickness with the equipment, a certain going with the flow, and a willingness to extend myself into my subjects’ lives with sensitivity and respect for their privacy.

Life back then was about raising kids, so they and their friends became my regular subjects. Now that I’m older, no surprise, my subjects are also older.  I’ve also done my share of “selfies,” not with an iPhone but with my big camera on a tripod and an electronic remote shutter release.
