I walk in the woods and take it all in:  the ground, plants, trees, smells.  If I see something interesting I photograph it or sketch it.  Redwood duff underneath my feet or some trash in juxtaposition with a beautiful scene could hold my gaze.  The unusual and odd need to be examined.  I am particularly interested in native plants, old redwood trees, old logging equipment and aging tourist attractions.  I use oil paint, watercolor, ink, pencil and pen in my work.
